TENOX is the trade name of Tenoxicam, a new thienothiazine derivative of the oxicam class with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and an analgesic action.
Each TENOX 20 Capsule contains Tenoxicam 20 mg.
Each TENOX 20 Suppository contains Tenoxicam 20mg.
Each TENOX 20 Sachet contains Tenoxicam 20mg Dispersible Granules.
CHEMISTRY
Tenoxicam is: 4-hydroxy-2-methyl-N-2-pyridinyl-2H-thieno[2,3-e]-1,2-thiazine-3-carboxamide 1,1-dioxide.
SITE AND MODE OF ACTON
TENOX inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclo-oxygenase, which catalyses the formation of cyclic endoperoxidase from arachidonic acid. The resultant decrease in prostaglandin synthesis and the scavenging of active oxygen radicals and the inhibition of generation of such species at inflammation site contribute to its main therapeutic effects.
TENOX possesses a long duration of action which enables it to be administered once daily. TENOX is highly absorbed when administered orally or rectally. The oral route yields higher absorption.
