29/01/2019
Under the Patronage of His Excellency the Minister of health Dr. Ghazi Al Zaben, the Society of General Practitioners announced the results of Dyslipidemia Study on Tuesday January 22nd, 2019. The study was planned and executed by the society during 2018, with the cooperation and sponsorship of Jordan Pharmaceutical manufacturing company (JPM).
The Speakers focused on the importance of such study, as it was the first to include participants from a younger age than 25, age 20 and above who were screened for the four dyslipidemia markers namely: Total Cholesterol (TC), Low Density Cholesterol (LDL-C), Triglycerides (TG), High Density Lipoproteins ( HDL), and TC/HDL Ratio .
The results were analyzed by Dr. Mohammad Al Tabba (University of Jordan), and presented to the audience by Dr. Wisam Al Soud, the manager of JPM scientific office and Pharmacovigilance.
The study revealed that 74.6 % of the examined population had at least one abnormal marker of Dyslipidemia, 46% with high LDL, 35% high TC, and 48% with low protective HDL. An alarming finding was the high prevalence of LDL among the 20-29 years age group highlighting the need to include teenagers in future studies in order to design and implement required early preventive interventions.
The Results will be available on this site soon.
